What are the Benefits of the Select Program?

The BASA Select Program supplements the BASA House League Program by offering girls registered in House League the opportunity to:

1. Develop enhanced skills and knowledge of the game through additional playing time with higher-level training, and

2. Participate in a fun and more competitive environment representing Burlington, as our mighty “Bees” teams take the field at tournaments across the province (usually in the GTA).

Play Softball at a Competitive Level

Participation in the Select Program is designed to avoid any conflicts with House League

games or practices. Select Program player commitment typically involves one practice or exhibition game per week and four to five tournaments from May to August.  Tournaments usually take place over one day, and teams may consider staying overnight depending on the distance and/or in cases of two-day tournaments.  The Select Program fee per selected player is expected to be around $350, which is applied to team costs such as uniforms and tournament entry fees. Please note this cost is in addition to House League fees.

Tryouts for the Select Program

Tryouts for the Select Program are free of charge and will be held Saturday April 20 th , 2024, at Sherwood Forest Park Dome #2 (5270 Fairview Street). 

Time slot details by division are as follows:

- U11 Mite (born 2013 and under):  10:45am-1:00pm

- U13 Squirt (born 2011 and under):  9:45am-12:00pm

- U15 Novice (born 2009 and under):  10:45am-1:00pm

- U17 Bantam (born 2007 and under):  10:45am-1:00pm

For all U21 players, tryouts will be announced at a later date. Please register if you’re interested.

Registration is required prior to tryouts and only registered BASA House League players may participate in the Select Program.  To register for the Select Program tryout, please click HERE.  If you wish to tryout but are unable to attend, please contact the Select Directors at basa.select@gmail.com as soon as possible to see if alternate tryout arrangements can be made available.  We will do our best to accommodate; however, alternate tryout arrangements are not guaranteed, as they are subject to evaluator and venue availability.

Player evaluations will be conducted by experienced coaches and player selections will be made promptly following the tryouts. Please note that BASA is planning to have two Select teams in the U13 Squirt division for the 2024 season, and a maximum of one Select team in each of the other divisions. As Select teams are coached by parents/guardians of the team members, coaching staff volunteers are needed in order for each Select team to proceed with its season.  At present, coaches have expressed interest in volunteering for all teams with the exception of the U11 Mite division.
